Jon Cline

Director and Co-founder

Jon Cline is a Director and Co-founder of Sigma Seven and is responsible for the strategic direction to the business as well as day to day management. Jon’s expertise stems from a lifelong enthusiasm for maps. This drives the company’s approach to excellence in maps and mobile systems where the true value of effective mapping is understood by our staff, partners and customers. He works closely with the product team ensuring the GeoField suite of products grows to further support the business needs of our customers making it simpler to implement integrated mobile systems.

Jon’s goal is to make Sigma Seven the natural choice for organisations implementing mobile mapping applications and through this to ensure the continued growth of Sigma Seven by taking Sigma Seven’s products to a wider range of UK industry sectors and to an international audience.

Jon has worked in the IT industry for over twenty years, across many sectors. He has held a number of senior consulting roles including GIS and Database consultant for Fujitsu and later as a Utilities industry expert specialising in information management systems.

Jon has a BSc Electrical and Electronic engineering from Edinburgh University and a MSc Information Systems Design and Management from Kingston.

Paul Reid

Director and Co-founder

Paul Reid is Co-Founder of Sigma Seven and the Director responsible for the technical direction of the company and the continued evolution of the Sigma Seven products. Paul makes sure our strategic roadmap adapts to new technologies, industry trends and customer requirements. Paul manages the development team including overseeing the delivery of major customer projects. He also manages Sigma Seven’s delivery partners and likes to keep actively involved in business development, meeting partners, suppliers and new customers.

Paul’s key goal is to develop the GeoField suite of products to the point where it is considered the automatic first choice in mobile map-based solutions, and then to continually evolve to ensure that we are first to deliver the tools that customers need.

Paul is very clear about the need for teamwork and works to maintain a good working environment and building a business that people want to work for. Through this he believes Sigma Seven will keep building on our reputation for quality and reliability and being easy to work with.

Paul’s entire career has been spent working in GIS, with a particular focus on mobile GIS where he was at the leading edge of that technology. With an extensive career in Utilities, he has worked in all areas of project lifecycle including consulting, requirements definition, software design & development, technical project management and delivery management. Paul therefore has an excellent understanding of the customer experience and getting mobile map-based solutions to deliver on their promises.

After a successful career in software development and product management, including a spell managing a joint UK-US development group, Paul set up his own specialist GIS consulting company prior to forming Sigma Seven.

Paul has a B. Eng (Hons) in Software Engineering from Napier University Edinburgh.

Donald McGarrie

Business Development Manager

Donald McGarrie joined Sigma Seven in 2007 after a lifelong career in the Utilities industry. Donald brings his years of experience to help us extend our reach in the Utilities sector, introducing the capabilities of the GeoField product set to a wider audience by using his knowledge and experience of the industry.

Donald wants to make GeoField the Field Mapping benchmark for Utilities companies.

Prior to joining Sigma Seven, Donald was responsible for delivery of major multi-million pound IT change programmes within ScottishPower in areas of GIS, field-based solutions, IT infrastructure, new connections and asset management.

In a 30 year career Donald started work as an operational engineer in Dumfries and moved through a number of senior management positions, including Customer Services Manager, Control Centre Manager, Business Support Manger and Connections Manager. Donald gained international experience through an exchange with the Kyushu Electric Power Company (KEPCO) in Japan, and as part of a DTI delegation to the Indian States of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Donald holds a B.Sc (Hons) from Edinburgh University and is a C.Eng and MIET. He has attended management courses at the Wharton Business School, Philadelphia, USA and London Business School and Ashridge in the UK.

Andrew Coleman

Strategy & Business Development

Andrew has been working with Sigma Seven since 2004 where he is now advising on strategy, partnerships and driving the expansion of new business. Before joining Sigma Seven, Andrew was the European Principal of a niche technology investment group providing strategic advice, finance, international expansion and business development services to clients in the Europe, USA and Australia. Andrew’s focus has been on the web services, wireless, telecoms, e-learning and health sectors.

Prior to these roles, Andrew held a number of international management roles in a seven year career with Fujitsu including Head of Strategy, Alliances and Partnerships for Fujitsu, where he developed wireless and datacentre strategies and lead the web services program; Technical Director of a Global Alliance with Microsoft, based in USA and Europe, and Strategic Alliances Manager for South Pacific based in Australia. After leaving Fujitsu Andrew ran his own advisory business working with large clients such as SITA and British Telecommunications plc as well as small technology start-ups.

Andrew has over 25 years experience in the IT industry and has previously worked as a Principal Consultant running a national IT practice, an analyst programmer and spent three years lecturing and researching in Information Management at the Napier University Business School in Edinburgh where he co-authored a new degree in Business Information Management.

Andrew has a first class honours degree from the University of Leicester and a Masters in Computational Theory from the University of Edinburgh where he worked on formal methods in the Laboratory for the Foundations of Computer Science.

Andrew is an investor and advisor for a number of technology, media and telecommunication ventures, he has published in Computing and Game Theory.

Steve Gilroy

Sales and Marketing

Steve Gilroy is a high-impact Business Growth Partner with the Quantum Organisation where he helps business owners achieve rapid sales and profit growth. Prior to joining Quantum, Steve was with The Computing Technology Industry Association as Vice President of International Sales & Marketing. Steve has over 22 years experience in various Sales & Marketing roles with Xerox, Unisys and ExecuTrain.

Steve has a Master’s Degree in Information Systems Design & Management from Kingston University, London and is a member of the Institute of Directors and Institute of Marketing. He is a Miller Heiman Master of Sales and frequently delivers sales training and coaching sessions in Europe, Asia and North America and is a regular industry presenter in the areas of IT Skills, Innovation and Sales & Marketing.

Steve joined the Sigma Seven team in January 2008 bringing extensive sales and marketing expertise to the Sigma Seven.

Wendy Rayner

Environmental Advisor

Wendy works closely with the management team on the development of solutions for the environment sector and on our environmental and quality management. A senior environmental professional with a successful track record in commercial, public and academic sector consultancy, Wendy has a technical background in regulatory compliance and has provided strategic advice to public, commercial and academic sector including the Ministry of Defence, National Health Service, Department of Transport, and the Health & Safety Executive. Wendy is also a specialist on UK and international waste and chairs a UK Industry group.
